Latest News: All en-suite single rooms are now taken, and en-suite twin rooms are close to full....
NanoteC is one of the longest running series of international nanoscale carbon conferences in Europe (since 1998). It brings together scientists working with nanoscale carbon materials: nanotubes, graphene, diamond- and fullerene-related nanostructures. While each of these materials attracts its own dedicated community of researchers, NanoteC draws on common themes and allows researchers to share insight into this unique element at the nanoscale.

Elemental carbon shows remarkable variety in properties via simple covalent bonding, however other systems (for example containing nitrogen or metals) are becoming important and provide alternative components with unique mechanical and electronic properties. Nanotechnology requires an understanding of these materials on an atomic level and this will be the central theme.

The NanoteC conferences are renowned for their relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with emphasis on discussion and participation. We endeavour to achieve as much student participation as possible, and we anticipate that the keynote talks will be strongly influential on the next generation of nanotechnology scientists. Contributed talks are also mainly attributed to young researchers. This year NanoteC10 will be held at Corpus Christi College in Oxford, with ~100 (maximum 135) participants from around the world, 12 sessions (non-parallel) with about 10 keynote and 30 contributed talks, as well as a poster session, with posters available for discussion throughout the conference.

Timings and Social Programme

The conference begins at midday Wednesday 1st September 2010 and finishes midday Saturday 4th September. Buffet lunch is available on the 1st. All lunches are included in registration fee, as well as dinner on September 1st and the Conference Dinner on September 3rd (Dinner on September 2nd is not included).

Marie Curie ITN Contact

Marie Curie ITN CONTACT

During the NanoteC10 conference, Oxford University will also host the kick-off meeting of the EU project "CONTACT". Funded by the EU's Marie Curie Programme and coordinated by the Fraunhofer ICT in Germany, the partners in this project have recruited fifteen PhD students to research nanomaterials, processes, characterisation methods and simulation tools. The goal of CONTACT is to establish a tailored supply chain of new CNT-filled composites with enhanced mechanical and electrical properties, for industrial applications including electrodes, structural materials and windblades. More information about the project can be found on the website: www.contactproject.eu
